Effect of column height on flotation column performance
Abstract. The question is posed as to why columns typically have a collection zone 10 m high (H) by 1 m in diameter (D). Three geometry dependent factors are considered: degree of mixing, N p volumetric bias rate, B and volumetric gas rate, G. Increasing H:D decreased N p and B, which improves performance but decreases G, which causes the column to approach overloading.
New concept in flotation column design SpringerLink
A form of column flotation cell is described in which the contact between the feed and the air stream is made in a mixing device at the top of a vertical downcomer. The airliquid mixture flows downward to discharge into a shallow pool of pulp in the bottom of a short cylindrical column.

Flotation column scaleup and modelling
Since the operating principles of a column differ markedly from those of conventional flotation machines, and have been poorly understood, scaleup of columns has been difficult. This paper describes a methodology for translating laboratory column data to industrial operation.

Cell and surfactant separation by column flotation
Abstract. The separation of rehydrated Saccharomyces cerevisiae and an alkyl polyglycoside surfactant by column flotation was studied as a function of wash water flow and ion concentration. Separation of cells and surfactant was measured under steadystate conditions. Surfactant recovery in the foam concentrate was in the range of 86–95%.

COLUMN FLOTATION MODELLING AND TECHNOLOGY
20171020&ensp·&enspIndustrial flotation columns are square or circular, typically 0.53m in diameter or side, and 1215m height. Since their invention, square columns have been marketed commercially by the Column Flotation Company of Canada Ltd. The apparent simplicity of the column has led others to copy the original idea and make their own "homemade" columns.

Drift Flux Modelling for a Two‐Phase System in a Flotation
Using different two‐phase systems, a laboratory flotation column was operated over a wide range of bubble size from 250 to 1100 µm. The drift flux analysis for the tests was used to obtain a new correlation to relate the characteristic exponent m in the drift flux equation j gf = U t α g (1 — α g) m, to bubble Reynolds number, where j gf is the drift flux, U t is the terminal velocity
